"I walked in to the Community Futures coordinator and explained my situation… She looked at me and said, 'Yes, I can help.' Just like that."
Red Shed Graphic Design and Creative Tools
Small business, big ambition
Like many people, Kimberly Delves moved to a small town to slow down her life – she had a series of cancers and needed to make some changes. However one thing she didn't want to change was her career: she had been a successful graphic designer in Calgary. So when she decided to start up her own business, she had lots of expertise to draw on. For the things she wasn't an expert in, she turned to Community Futures Centre West. They set her up with an accountant for some one-on-one instruction, and later on with a business coach. So far Red Shed Graphic Design & Creative Tools has been nominated for Business of the Year two years running, and Kimberly has all the work she can handle. Not such a slow life after all – but a very happy and successful one.
