John Knapp already had 18 years of experience in the transit industry when he moved to Peace River five years ago, so he was quickly recruited into the fledgling public transit industry there. While helping out, he realized that there was a big demand for charter services that couldn't be met because there weren't enough buses – in one month he had to turn away $34,000 in charter work. John saw an opportunity, and leapt: he contacted Community Futures Peace Country, obtained a loan, and incorporated his company in February, 2009. He now has two charter buses, and has been awarded the contract for the Peace River Transit Service. John, who has cerebral palsy, has often been told in life that he can't do things, but he's always just gone ahead and found a way.
